Embarking on a Horological Odyssey: My Exclusive Experience at the “Experience Time” Event

As a fervent admirer of intricate timepieces and the artistry behind them, I had the privilege of attending the second edition of the “Experience Time” event in Dubai. Hosted by the Richemont Group and its esteemed Specialist Watchmakers Maisons, this unique cultural extravaganza promised a deep dive into the world of watchmaking at the intersection of heritage and innovation.

The setting was nothing short of extraordinary – the Flagship boutiques of Maisons like A. Lange & Söhne, IWC Schaffhausen, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Panerai, Piaget, Roger Dubuis, and Vacheron Constantin, all nestled within Dubai Mall.

A.LANGE & SÖHNE: The Digital Odyssey I started my journey at A. Lange & Söhne, where a digital installation awaited. The 360° view of iconic timepieces projected in mesmerizing 3D, accompanied by special sound effects, allowed me to navigate through the intricate movements of these masterpieces. It was a virtual journey that seamlessly blended the traditional craftsmanship with modern technology.

IWC SCHAFFHAUSEN: The Pit Stop Thrill Next up was IWC Schaffhausen, where the thrill of a Pit Stop Chrono Challenge awaited. The ambiance recreated the excitement of a Formula 1 racetrack. Participating in the challenge to test my speed in changing the strap against the world record for changing tires was a unique and exhilarating experience. I left with a personalized clip capturing my performance – a fantastic blend of speed and watchmaking finesse.

JAEGER-LECOULTRE: Celebrating the Timeless Reverso At Jaeger-LeCoultre, the focus was on celebrating the timeless icon – the Reverso. Engaging storytelling and a chance to explore the heritage counter made this a nostalgic journey. Personalization engraving and trying my hand at the decorative craft of the Perlage machine added an artisanal touch.

PANERAI: A Masterclass in Italian Craftsmanship Panerai’s watchmaking masterclass was a hands-on experience. Witnessing the precision and dedication behind Panerai’s watches and stepping into the shoes of a watchmaker for a day gave me a newfound appreciation for Italian craftsmanship.

PIAGET: Becoming an Artisan Piaget extended an invitation to become an artisan with a Watchmaking & Gem Setting Workshop. Exploring Piaget Gold Mastery and the signature Décor Palace motif through an immersive workshop, I indulged in the mastery of Piaget’s timepieces.

ROGER DUBUIS: Speed and Haute Horology Fusion Roger Dubuis created a bespoke Secret Room where high-speed exhilaration and haute horology converged. Immersing myself in the dynamic worlds of watchmaking and motorsports through cutting-edge simulators was an adrenaline-infused experience.

VACHERON CONSTANTIN: A Celebration of Craftsmanship Vacheron Constantin’s “Celebration of Craftsmanship” was a captivating journey into high watchmaking excellence. Interactive experiences exploring the Maison’s Métiers d’Art crafts, a playful and edu-taining quiz, and discovering exquisite timepieces made for an enriching encounter.

“Experience Time” transcended the conventional boundaries of a watch exhibition. It wasn’t just a display of watches; it was an invitation to immerse oneself in the heritage, innovation, and passion woven into each ticking masterpiece.
